Evah J.
Dawkins
Jun 21, 1923 — Jul 16, 2017
Evah J. Dawkins, age 94 of Anderson and formerly of Elwood and Princeton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson after an extended illness and a long, fulfilling life. She was born June 21, 1923, in Salem, Illinois, one of 13 children born to Charles & Libbie (Marlowe) Collier. She was a graduate of Salem High School, and later married Ross A. Dawkins. Evah lived in Princeton, Indiana where she owned and operated Eve's Apparel for 17 years. She never lost her sense of style even when she moved to Elwood to be closer to her daughter. Evah was formerly a devoted member of Broadway Christian Church of Princeton and attended Elwood First United Methodist Church; and also enjoyed being a member of Tri-Kappa. Evah had a passion for caring for her home and family in an elegant way. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and homemaking tasks. She and Ross enjoyed traveling on many memorable business and pleasure trips for many years after retirement. More than anything, Evah was devoted to all of her family.
Evah's surviving family includes daughter, Dr. Becky (Dr. Tom) Moser of Elwood; son, Charles "Chuck" Dawkins of Miami, FL; daughter-in-law, Beth Dawkins of Jasper; 8 grandchildren, Dr. Lacy (Anthony) Boggs, Lucas (Beth) Moser, Dr. Ashley (Ben) Coppess, Dr. Clark Moser, Rev. Todd (Stacy) Dawkins, Dr. Adam (Amy) Dawkins, Zach (Emily) Dawkins, and Abigail Dawkins; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Evah was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ross A. Dawkins in 1995; son, Dr. Phillip R. Dawkins in 2008; and many siblings.
A graveside service celebrating Evah's life will be conducted on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 3:30pm (Elwood time) and 2:30pm (Princeton time) at the Columbia Church Cemetery in Princeton, Indiana with her grandson, Rev. Todd Dawkins of the Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, officiating. Burial will follow. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood First United Methodist Church Community Meal ministry or the Phillip R. Dawkins Heart & Vascular Center. Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood has been entrusted with Evah's arrangements, and online condolences to the family may be expressed at copherfeslermay.com.Columbia Church Cemetery (Central Time)
