Obituary

Eunice "Maureen" Skillman , age 92 of Belleair, Florida and formerly of Alexandria and Elwood, passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2024 at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital after a long, well-lived life.  She was born Oct. 13, 1932 in Moosejaw Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Hubert and Gladys (Pattison) Sullivan.  Maureen was a 1950 graduate of Summitville High School and shortly after married her soulmate, Glenn Skillman, on August 5, 1950.  They shared 65 years of marriage together before his passing in 2016.  She formerly worked at Edgewood Elementary School in the cafeteria where she enjoyed interacting with children.  Maureen's greatest achievement was being a devoted homemaker for all her family.

Maureen was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Elwood for most of her life.  She was an active member of the United Methodist Women where she held past leadership positions.  Glenn and Maureen formerly enjoyed golfing and socializing at Yule Golf course in Alexandria where they lived adjacent to the golf course.  They were known for being active in the Elwood and Alexandria communities and dedicated to attending all their family's sporting events and activities.  Maureen's family is comforted knowing that she has been reunited with Glenn in Heaven.

Maureen's family includes 3 sons, Bill (wife Susan) Skillman of Homosassa, FL, Mike (wife Kathy) Skillman of Pinehurst, NC, and Jim (wife Carol) Skillman of St. Petersburg, Fl; 5 grandchildren, Kelly (husband Todd) Sarratt, Kourtney (husband Jared) Sells, Ben (wife Sara Lynn) Skillman, Andy (wife Jayme) Skillman, and Eric (wife Hannah) Skillman; 7 great-grandchildren, Maxton Sells, Caleb Skillman, Connor Skillman, Carson Skillman, Cameron Skillman, Madelynn Skillman, and Danielle Skillman; brother, Ronald (wife Pam) Sullivan of Van Buren; and several nieces and nephews.  Maureen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Skillman; and 3 siblings, Iona (Vivian) Barnes, Donna Simpkins, and Irene (Myrtie) Hazlett.

A funeral service celebrating Maureen's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Wynn Stenftenagel officiating.  Entombment will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery Mausoleum.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am to 1 pm prior to the funeral service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
