Ethelda M. Rieman, age 88 and a life-long resident of Elwood, died Thursday December 27, 2012 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood after an extended illness. She was born February 15, 1924 in Elwood, the daughter of Mervle E. and Eva M. (Boyer) Groover. She was a homemaker most of her life and also worked at Ex-cello Corporation in Elwood for 9 years. Ethelda attended Elwood High School, and later married Wilbur H. "Delco" Rieman on June 20, 1942. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She formerly enjoyed traveling, camping and boating with her husband and family. Ethelda also liked to make floral crafts and work with ceramics.
Her family includes a son, Michael L. (wife Donna) Rieman of Oak Grove, MO; sister, Claribell Groover of Elwood; daughter-in-law, Michelen Rieman of Brownsburg; 3 Granddaughters, Rae (husband Ben) Braughton of Greenwood, Randi (husband Roger) Rieman-Johns of Brownsburg, and Lesley (husband Charles) Johnston of Oak Grove, MO; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Ethelda was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Wilber H. Rieman who died September 10, 1991; son Ronald Rieman; 3 sisters, Mary Tumulty, Genevieve "Jenny" Simmons, and Bertha Dowler; and brother, William "Bill" Groover.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Dr. Woody Noblitt of New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Elwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM prior to the funeral at the funeral home. The funeral service will start with an Order of Eastern Star memorial. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Beginnings Fellowship Church through the funeral home.
