Estelle "Betty" Frye, age 94 of Lake Placid, Florida and formerly of Elwood and Kokomo, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at her residence after a well-lived life. She was born July 18, 1919 in Kokomo, the daughter of Edgar E. and Syrilda M. (Little) Bowman. She was a homemaker most of her life and previously worked at Stephens Spring Co. in Elwood for 10 years. Betty attended Kokomo schools, and later married George Lee Frye on November 12, 1937. She was a long-time member of Eastside Christian Church in Lake Placid, FL. Betty enjoyed bowling and formerly bowled, up until the age of 92, in Kokomo, Elwood, and Florida; and was a life-long member of the Democratic Party. She kept busy all of her life, and especially loved gardening and working in her yard.

Betty's family includes 5 children, Judy Kaye (husband Robert) Pernod of Lake Placid, FL., William Edgar (wife Lolita) Frye of Fairmount, Gerry Lee Frye of Lake Placid, FL., Georgia Lynn (husband Denny) Bauer of Kokomo, and Jeffrey Steven (wife Ursula) Frye of New Bern, NC.; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, "Miss Blackie".

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, George Lee Frye who died in 1999; sister, Geneiva Redman; and 4 brothers, James Bowman, Denzial Bowman, Lester Bowman, and Omer Bowman.

A celebration of Betty's life will take place at 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with a member of the family, Pastor Rob Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial service will take place at a later date in Lake Placid with Pastor Ray Culpepper officiating.
