Emily Lorene Thomas , age 88 of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Ascension – St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after a long life.  She was born April 16, 1933 in Jonesville, Virginia, the daughter of Tyde and Nancy E. (Napier) Haynes.  Emily married Floyd E. Thomas on March 10, 1959, and they shared nearly 42 years of marriage together before his passing in 2001.  Emily was a homemaker all of her life and enjoyed caring for her family.  She was a former member of the Baptist Church in Alexandria.  Emily enjoyed working in her yard, working with crafts, and making flower arrangements.  She especially loved shopping.  Emily has been reunited in Heaven with Floyd and her beloved daughter, Regina.

Emily leaves behind special friends and caretakers, Kent and Melinda Sharp of Elwood and Rita Leer of Elwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Thomas; beloved daughter, Belvia "Regina" Thomas; and 10 siblings.

A graveside funeral service celebrating Emily's life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Park View Cemetery in Alexandria with Rev.
