Elva Mae "Corkie" Crowe , age 94 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Elwood Health and Living surrounded by her family after a well-lived life.  She was born Feb. 4, 1930 in Elwood, the daughter of Glen and Lottie Mae (Jackson) Harris.  Corkie married Robert "Mick" Ritter and started her family legacy with 3 children.  She then married James E. Crowe in 1965, and they shared over 26 years of marriage together until his passing in 1991.  In her younger years, she worked at the glove factory in Alexandria. She began her own cleaning business in Elwood and the surrounding area, and she cleaned many homes as well as the Elwood Court and Ranch Motel.  Corkie had a caregiver's heart, caring for numerous elderly friends and family in the Elwood area.  She was always caring for and looking out for the interests of other people.  Corkie attended Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel and was proud to be baptized on March 31, 2002.  She especially enjoyed spending summers with her family in Tennessee, taking care of her cats, and crocheting.  She made each new baby in the family their very own crocheted baby blanket.  More than anything, Corkie loved spending time with her family.

Corkie is survived by 2 children, David (wife Barb) Ritter of Elwood and Pam (husband Randy) Grogan of Elwood; sister, Darlene Sullivan of Kentucky; 8 grandchildren, Brent (wife Lora) Munns of Elwood, Eric (wife JoBeth) Grogan of Elwood, Amber Mackey (James Crow) of Tipton, Tiffani (husband Jonathan) White of Sharpsville, Lindy (husband Alan) Ritter of Florida, Brandon Ritter of Florida, Tasha Jones of Anderson, and Randy Ritter of Anderson; 10 great-grandchildren, Emma Munns, Katie Munns, Ashton Grogan, Hannah Grogan, Alexus Mackey, Drake Mackey, Holden White, Gabbi White, Brooklyn Ritter, and Daikan Metz; great-great granddaughter, Loahla Calloway; and several nieces and nephews.  Corkie was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Robert "Mick" Ritter; second husband, James E. Crowe; son, Kimmon Ritter; 3 brothers, Bill Harris, Tim Harris, and Jerry Harris; grandson, Davey Ritter; and 2 great-grandchildren, Avery Grogan, and Grayson White.

A memorial service celebrating Corkie's life will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the memorial on April 13, 2024 at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Tipton County Humane Society.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
