Obituary

Elaine H. Brenner, age 94 of Fishers and formerly of Elwood, fell asleep and met her Lord Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Heritage Woods of Noblesville. She was born September 24, 1931, in Elwood, the daughter of Garland E. and Louise (Cox) Harbit. Elaine was a 1949 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School. A 78 year and third generation resident of Elwood until 2009, Elaine was eternally grateful to call Elwood, Indiana her home. She married the love of her life, Richard Brenner, after he returned from the Korean War in 1955. Together they raised their two children, and she worked at Delco Remy, a division of General Motors, for 35 years.

In her retirement, Elaine enjoyed traveling with friends to historical sites, most notably to the Holy Land of Israel. She was a voracious reader and known to read at least two novels a week. Elaine was a member of Delta Theta Tau service sorority, Daughters of the American Revolution, and a life-long member of East Main Street Christian Church. She will be greatly missed by all her family.

Her legacy will live on in her children; Lisa (Cliff) Allen and Kirk (Kristen) Brenner; 5 grandchildren; Cale (Blair) Allen, Peyton (Maksym) Kostryk, Noah Brenner, Zane Brenner, and Kyle Brenner; 4 great grandchildren who affectionately called her "GG"; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Brenner; her brother, Garland E Harbit Jr.; and her daughter-in- law, Emily Brenner.

Elaine’s family would like to thank Heritage Woods of Noblesville and Enlight Hospice Services for their loving care in Elaine’s final months.

A graveside funeral service honoring Elaine’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Elwood City Cemetery in Elwood with Pastor Matthew Seibel of East Main Street Christian Church officiating. A visitation at the graveside will take place an hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the cemetery. Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood is honored to handle Elaine’s arrangements. The family suggests contributions be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, for Parkinsons Disease or the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. The family would like to invite anyone who attends the graveside to bring wildflowers to place on Elaine’s grave.
