Edward Joe Everling, II , age 65 of Alexandria, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Indiana University Health Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness. He was born October 7, 1958 in Madison County, the son of Edward Everling and Ardella Marie (Shipley) Murrell. Joe was a 1977 graduate of Elwood High School and furthered his education and skills by earning his skilled trades apprenticeship and certificates. He married the love of his life, Pat Kelly on May 20, 1978 and they shared over 45 years of marriage together. Joe retired in 2019 from FCA, formerly Chrysler, after working as a millwright for over 33 years. He attended First Baptist Church in Anderson. Joe was a member of the Quincy Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Shriner's Club. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, boating, and traveling. Joe liked to spend time working in his barn. More than anything, Joe loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Joe's family includes his wife, Pat Everling; 3 children, Kelly (husband James) Bruhn, Kimberly (husband Greg) Durm, and Eddie (wife Kristin) Everling; 2 brothers, Todd (wife Debbie) Everling, and Brian Everling; 11 grandchildren, Ben Durm, Avery Bruhn, Kate Durm, Elizabeth Bruhn, Noah Durm, Colin Bruhn, Molly Durm, Alex Everling, Elizabeth Everling, Ella Everling, and Emma Everling; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Walt Cloud; and sister, Aldene Davis.
A funeral service celebrating Joe's life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Dennis Roberts officiating and will include a Masonic Rites Service. Burial will follow the funeral in Forrestville Cemetery in rural Summitville. Visitation for family and friends will be held from noon to 2 pm on Monday, March 11, 2024 prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Indiana Donor Network through the funeral home. Joe's family asks everyone to consider registering to be an organ donor, because you can save up to 8 lives by being an organ donor.
