Obituary

Edna Mae Laird, age 86 of Live Oak, Texas and formerly of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 surrounded by her family at her residence in Texas.  She was born May 20, 1931 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Frederick and Jenny (McGillivary) Bruce.  She was a 1949 graduate of Menomonee Falls High School in Wisconsin.  Edna married the love of her life, Stanley E. Laird, on April 15, 1950, and they shared over 67 years of marriage together.  She was a Homemaker most of her life, and in recent years worked at Macy's, Kohl's, and Burdines department stores.  Edna was raised in the Lutheran Church and was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Elwood.  She was also formerly active in the Ladies of the Moose as College of Regent, and Delta Theta Tau Sorority in Elwood.  She enjoyed gardening and working with flowers around her home; reading; and especially enjoyed many memorable trips traveling with Stanley.  More than anything, she will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be missed by all who loved her.

Edna's surviving family includes her husband, Stanley E. Laird of Live Oak, TX; 7 children, Sandra (husband Vaughn) Lineberry of Elwood, Michael Laird of Sulfur, LA, David Laird of LaBelle, FL, Ellen (husband Rick) Davis of Valrico, FL, Timothy (wife Stephanie) Laird of Sulfur, LA, Amy (husband Mike) Lee of Live Oak, TX, and Kenneth (wife Melinda) Laird of Edmond, OK; 20 grandchildren, Megan McFarlain, Samantha McLaughlin, Jennifer Messmer, Crystal Laird, Amanda Blackstone, Amber Sallee, Shawn Lineberry, Heather Bahr, Shane Davis, Ashley Davis, Morgan Dodson, Maddie Dodson, Tyler Dodson, Joshua Lee, Brandon Lee, Alyssa Bosman, Ty Laird, Tatum Laird, Ryan Hoover, and Justin Hoover; 34 great-grandchildren.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jean Limbach; daughter, Debra (Laird) Hoover; granddaughter, Stevie Grace Laird; 2 daughters-in-law, Rebecca Laird and Carol (Pace) Laird; and father and mother-in-law, Harland & Ellen Laird.

A funeral service celebrating Edna's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Matt Miller officiating.  Entombment will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery Mausoleum.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Online condolences to the family may be expressed at copherfeslermay.com.
