Obituary

Edna M. Fleener, age 86, of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30th, 2015 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood following extensive health issues. She was born November 2nd, 1929 in Elwood, the daughter of Everett J. and Sarah L. (Baldwin) Bennett. Edna retired from H&R Block Tax Services in Elwood after 34 years as a Tax Preparer. She graduated in 1947 from Wendell L. Willkie High School, and later married Robert E. Fleener on October 28th, 1949. Edna had formerly attended the Rigdon United Methodist Church, and was well known as an avid bowler with the Elwood Bowling Association for many years. She and her husband, Bob, enjoyed traveling all over the country, camping, and motorcycling with the Goldwing Motorcycle Club. Earlier in life, she was an avid supporter of her sons' quarter-midget racing activities, and especially enjoyed dining out in recent years with family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. More than anything, she will be remembered for her great sense of humor; her friendliness to everyone; and caring about children.

Edna's family includes son, Michael (wife Karen) Fleener of Kettering, OH, and son John (wife Sherri) Fleener of Goshen; brother, Thomas (wife Martha) Bennett of Elwood; sister, Nora Flowers of Connorsville; 6 grandchildren, Jared (wife Lisa), Matthew, Andrew (wife Emy), Amanda (husband Ben), Samantha (companion Tanner), and Olivia (husband Tyler); 10 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Sophia, Emma, Alexander, Trenton, Cameryn, Gracelynn, Mira, Braxton, and Kaylee; sister-in-law, Lornell Mock of Anderson; special friend and caregiver Donna Erickson of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, Robert Fleener in 2005; sister Jane Tolle; and brother, Everett J. Bennett Jr.
