Obituary

Dorothy Louise Harding , age 60 of Westfield and formerly of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2022 surrounded by her family at her home after a 2-year battle with cancer.  She was born November 9, 1961 in Marion, the daughter of Donald and Justeen (Kennedy) Fanning.  Dorothy was a 1980 graduate of Elwood Community High School.  She was a homemaker and also worked for Marsh Supermarkets for 15 years in the accounting department before retiring in 2009.  Dorothy married George G. Harding on April 4, 1997 and they shared 25 years of marriage together.  Dorothy and George enjoyed camping, visiting wineries, and spending time at the beach on numerous memorable vacations.  She also enjoyed reading; going to Jimmy Buffet concerts; and especially cherished spending time with her close friends who called themselves the "Sister Wives".  More than anything, Dorothy was devoted to her family and loved nothing more than all the time she spent with them.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dorothy's family includes her husband, George Harding of Westfield; son, David Leeson of Tipton; 6 siblings, Linda (Lew) Disque of Texas, Debbie (Andy) Durm of Elwood, Donna Marshall of Elwood, Brian Fanning of Elwood, Betty Hankey of Alexandria, and Chet (Diane) Hankey of Silver Lake; 5 grandchildren, Drew, Zach, Gabe, Adam, and Miriam Leeson; father-in-law, Joseph Harding of Zionsville; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Webber and Barbara Harding; and several nieces and nephews.  Dorothy was preceded in death by both her parents.

A funeral service celebrating Dorothy's life and legacy will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with members of her family leading the service.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm prior to the funeral on Thursday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Friday at the Zionsville Cemetery in Zionsville.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
