Obituary

Dorothy L. "Dot" Parker, age 91 of Elwood, died Saturday December 22, 2012 at Alexandria Care Center in Alexandria after an extended illness. She was born September 18, 1921 in Lebanon, Kentucky the daughter of Sam and Madge (Hays) Litsey. Dot retired from Delco-Remy Corporation in Anderson in 1982 where she had worked in production for more than 27 years. She was a 1939 graduate of Frankton High School. She married Thurman W. Parker on December 24, 1939. Dot was a 37-year member of the Beta Chapter of Delta Theta Tau sorority and a devoted member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood. She and Thurman had seen many sights and traveled all over the world together and especially enjoyed spending their winters in Okeechobee, Florida. They were formerly very active in square dancing and attended functions throughout Indiana.

Dot's family includes her husband of more than 72 years, Thurman W. Parker of Elwood; a son, Sam G. Parker of Elwood; a daughter, Connie (husband Robert) Barcinski of Delray Beach, FL; sister, Connie Pederson, Vero Beach, FL; brother, Charles (wife Betty) Litsey of Pierceton; 9 grandchildren, Kathleen, Erin, Brian, Brent, Darlene, Geanie, Harold, Terry and Tim; 18 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 daughters, Carolyn Marie Parker and Marilyn Blair; 4 brothers, Robert Litsey, Bill Litsey, Lester Litsey, and Al Litsey; and 2 granddaughters, Larrie and Linda.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday December 31, 2012 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral home in Elwood with Rev. Josh Carney of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood officiating. Burial will follow in Aroma Cemetery in Atlanta. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 PM Sunday December 30, 2012 at the funeral home. A Delta Theta Tau memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
