Doris B. "Joyce" Jackman, age 71 of Elwood died unexpectedly at her residence on Saturday, June 9, 2012. She was born June 30, 1940 in Thomkinsville, KY the daughter of Willie Kirk and Anna Susan (Pitcock) Curtis. She was a 1958 graduate of Frankton High School. She married Gordon E. "Butch" Jackman on June 30, 1961. Joyce was a fork truck driver at General Cage Corporation in Elwood for over 10 years. She was baptized in and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Springfield, GA where she loved spending her winters. She enjoyed painting and crafts, yard sales, and thrift shopping. Joyce loved taking care of her family and cooking for them. She made an impact on everyone she met and had a huge heart for others. Joyce was a wonderful person, and she will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Survivors include: husband of nearly 51 years, Gordon E. "Butch" Jackman of Elwood; 3 children, Christy (husband John) Gladin of Rincon, GA, Greg (wife Gina) Jackman of Elwood, and Lisa Jackman of Elwood; 4 grandchildren, Dustin Clouser of Springfield, TN, Kirk Gladin of Springfield, GA, Sarah Jackman of Elwood, and Scott Jackman of Elwood; 1 great-granddaughter, Autumn Clouser of Springfield, TN; 2 sisters, Dana (husband Chuck) Jameson of Frankton, and Emma (husband George) Hinds of Elwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Hallie Welch.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with the Rev. Tim Stigers, Chaplin of Southern Care Hospice officiating. Burial will take place at the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Susan G. Koman Cancer Foundation through the funeral home.
