Donna Lea Marshall , age 64 of Elwood, passed away while vacationing on a cruise on Sept. 21, 2023 in the Caribbean. Her final days couldn't have been more enjoyable with her sister. Donna was born May 15, 1959 in Marion, the daughter of Donald Fanning and Justeen (Kennedy) Fanning-Hankey. She was a 1977 graduate of Elwood Community High School before attending Indiana University (Kokomo) and Indiana Wesleyan University. She earned a Bachelor's degree in nursing. Donna was a Registered Nurse and currently worked in Nursing Administration for Miller's Health System for the last 20 years. Prior to that, she also worked at Dickey Nursing Home as Director of Nursing and Mercy Hospital in Elwood.
Donna was known for her outgoing nature and great sense of humor. She kept everything lively and fun wherever she might be. Donna absolutely loved vacationing and taking cruises. She loved spending time with her kids and grandchildren; reading mystery novels; playing bingo; and watching her favorite football team – the Chicago Bears. Her life and legacy will never be forgotten.
Donna's family includes 3 children, Sarah (John) Marshall of Elwood, Thomas Marshall of Elwood, and Tawni Marshall of Noblesville; 5 siblings, Debbie (Andy) Durm of Elwood, Brian Fanning of Elwood, Linda (Lew) Disque of Texas, Betty (Mark) Hankey of Alexandria, and Chet (Diane) Hankey of Silver Lake; 4 beloved grandchildren, Audree Gettinger, Maddy Marshall, Augustus Marshall, and Kenzie Parker; former husband, Tom Marshall; and several nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Harding; and beloved step-father, Chet Hankey.
Donna's wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of life memorial service will be held in December. Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.
