Obituary

Doneta M. Williams , age 95 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024 at Elwood Health & Living after a long, well-lived life.  She was born March 24, 1928 in Rigdon, the daughter of Alvie and Lellie (Hiatt) Ozenbaugh.  Doneta was a 1946 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School where she played in the school band.  She married her soulmate, Robert F. "Bob" Williams on March 8, 1947, and they shared 70 years of marriage together raising their five children.  Doneta was a devoted homemaker and farmwife as well as the bookkeeper for their family farming operation, Williams Farms, Inc.  She also formerly worked at the Leisure phone company and Fettig's Canning Company.

Doneta was devoted to her family in every possible way.  She touched the lives of her children and grandchildren in many ways.  Doneta was a devoted member of East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood where she formerly taught Sunday school for many years.  Doneta and Bob enjoyed serving on mission trips to Haiti and sharing their experiences to local groups.  She especially enjoyed quilting, crafting, and listening to Polka music.  Doneta and Bob owned a home in Okeechobee, Florida for 30 years and loved spending winters with their friends in the warm climate.  They also traveled to 48 of the U.S. states and enjoyed camping for many years.  Doneta and Bob have been reunited in Heaven for eternity.  Doneta's family would like to thank all the wonderful staff members of Elwood Health & Living for the exceptional care they provided for their mother.  Their care will never be forgotten.

Doneta's family includes 5 children, Jerry (Brenda) Williams of Elwood, Terry (Donnetta) Williams of Elwood, Janet (Mark) Copher of Fishers, Nancy (Mike) Retherford of Chesterfield, and Randy (Mary Ann) Williams of Elwood; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a niece; and two nephews.  Doneta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Williams in 2017; and sister, Marie Bournique.

A funeral service celebrating Doneta's life and faith will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday prior to the funeral at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the East Main Street Christian Church.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
