Donald G. Kestler, age 83 of Elwood died unexpectedly on April 21, 2011 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood. He was born June 9, 1927 the son of Helen Kestler. He married Marilyn B. Williams on March 16, 1950. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a Tool & Die Maker and worked in the Fabrication Division of General Motors in Marion for 10 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Elwood, the Elwood Elks Lodge #368, and the United Auto Workers Union #977. He previously enjoyed racing go-carts.
He was an avid sports and racing fan. He enjoyed boating, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife – Marilyn B. (Williams) Kestler of Elwood; 2 Daughters; Lisa Kestler of Elwood, and Angela (Tony) Edgell of Elwood; 3 Grandsons – Chad Leever of Lafayette, Brent (Shanna) Leever of Elwood, and Kyle Edgell of Elwood; 2 Great-Grandsons – Kalan Leever and Kolin Leever of Elwood; Special Family Members – Mark Holland of Wisconsin, Virginia Etchison of Elwood, and Judith Lewis of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by; His Mother; Grandparents – Peter and Bertha Kestler; and Uncle & Aunt - Walter and Louise Holland.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church in Elwood with Rev. Mary Lundquist officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Elwood V.F.W. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 PM on Monday, April 25, 2011 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
