Obituary

Donald E. Eaton , age 87 of West Lafayette, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the Indiana Veterans Home following a brief illness and a long life.  He was born December 15, 1934 in Muncie, Indiana, the son of Rev. Claude and Thelma (Pence) Eaton.  Don graduated from Pittsboro High School and went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in business management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.  He married Beverly Roberts on April 7, 1967, and they shared over 35 years of marriage together before her passing in 2004.  Don enlisted to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force, and he found a passion for aviation that remained with him throughout his life.  Don was a licensed pilot and worked as a commercial airline pilot for several years.  He later spent most of his working career as a computer programmer and consultant in the technology field.

Don was known for having a beautiful singing voice and was a paid, staff vocalist at a large church for several years.  He lived in several different areas throughout his lifetime.  While living in New Jersey, he was actively involved in the 4-H Association; and while living in northern Indiana, he was a well-known bus driver for Tri-Creek School Corporation.  Don especially enjoyed woodworking, painting pictures, photography, and reading his Bible.  In recent years, Don self-published a book about faith and religion.  In his younger years, Don was honored to date the notable actress, Faye Dunaway, for a short time.

Don's family includes a daughter, Holly Eaton of San Diego, California; brother, Glen (wife Linda) Eaton of Elwood; two nieces; a nephew; and great-nieces.  Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly Eaton; and brother, John Eaton.

Cremation will take place, and no services will be held at this time.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Somerset County 4-H Association, 310 Milltown Rd., Bridgewater, NJ 08807.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
