Obituary

Dixie J. Reynolds, age 61 of Elwood, died Friday, September 2, 2011 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood after a very brief illness. She was born August 21,1950 in Elwood, the daughter of C. Eugene "Gene" and Wilma J. (Hinds) Church. She retired in 2009 as a Teacher's Aide from Edgewood Elementary School after 18 years of service. She also formerly owned and operated the Duchess Beauty Salon in Elwood for several years. Dixie was a 1968 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School. She married Richard E. "Dick" Reynolds on October 27, 1973. She was a former member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood and currently attended East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood. She was past-president of the Elwood PTO. Dixie was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially known for helping others in various ways. She also enjoyed arts, crafts, gardening, and flowers.

Survivors include her Father – C. Eugene "Gene" Church of Elwood; Husband of nearly 38 years – Richard "Dick" Reynolds of Elwood; Daughter – Sarah (husband Chad) McCorkle of Elwood; 3 Sons – Aaron Reynolds of Elwood, Richard M. (wife Brenda) Reynolds of Copperas Cove, TX, Robert T. (wife Tina) Reynolds of Falls Church, VA; Sister – Jane (husband Mike) Tracy of Elwood; 5 Grandchildren – Karah McCorkle, Alyson Reynolds, Nolan Reynolds, Michael Reynolds and Jeremiah Reynolds; Several Nieces and Nephews including - Kurt (wife Cheryl) Scharff.

She was preceded in death by her Mother - Wilma J. Church who died in 2010; and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 9, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Monday, September 5, 2011 at the funeral home.
