Delores C.
"Missy" Corbett
Jan 18, 1935 — Mar 4, 2018
Delores Clairece "Missy" Corbett, age 83 of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital following an extended illness, but a blessed life. She was born on January 18, 1935 in Lexington, Kentucky, the daughter of Julius and Ella (Padricke Willhoit) Fillmann. She attended Anderson High School. Missy worked as a polisher for Airfoil Textron (formerly Ex-Cello) for 33 years until they closed. She married Dallas W. Corbett, Sr. on October 3, 1959, and they shared over 58 years of marriage together. Missy was a former member of the Third Street Church of God in Elwood, where she loved singing and playing the organ. She enjoyed quilting, and was formerly a member of the "Jolly Women's Club" in Elwood. She and her family also formerly enjoyed spending time at Lake Freeman in northern Indiana. More than anything, Missy's family was the most important thing to her; and her family finds comfort knowing she's in her Heavenly home.
Missy's family includes her husband, Dallas Corbett, Sr. of Elwood; daughter, Sherry Eubanks (Mark Smith) of Elwood; 2 sons, Dallas Corbett, Jr. of Elwood and Terry (wife Jenny) Corbett of Anderson; sister, Sandra (husband Bill) Layton of Anderson; brother, Reginald Fillmann of Tennessee; 6 grandchildren, Johnny Evans (Misty Huffman) of Elwood, Heather Leicht, and Holly Evans (Clint Dugger) all of Alexandria, Terrance (wife Juliana) Corbett of Westfield, and David Corbett and Jeff (wife Cassanda) Corbett of all of Elwood; 5 step-grandchildren, Aliviah Zirkle, Braden Zirkle, Landon Atkinson, Stephanie Watson, and John Watson; 8 great-grandchildren, Logan Pyle, Hannah Craft, Samuel Burgan, Khali Evans, Jayce Evans, Raeghan Wisehart, Peyton Wisehart, and McKensie Corbett; 2 sisters-in-law, Vicki Beeman and Pat Long; brother-in-law, Steve (wife Diane) Corbett; and several nieces and nephews.
Missy was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Dorothy Anderson and Charlotte Landis; grandson, Christopher Corbett; sister-in-law, Nancy Ball; 3 brothers-in-law, Allen Corbett, Burvia Anderson, and Junior Landis; and first husband, Ralph "Sonny" Balser.
A funeral service celebrating Missy's life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Wally Champion of Christian Bible Church in Marion, officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
