Delmar L Kelly age 79 of Alexandria, died January 1, 2013 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville after a brief illness. He was born September 8, 1933 in Anderson, the son of Roy and Maxine (Iseminger) Kelly. He retired from Guide Lamp Corporation in 1995 where he had worked as a welder for more than 31 years. He had also been a farmer his whole life. Delmar was a 1951 graduate of Somerset High School. He married Shirley J. Fansler on November 14, 1954. He was a member of the Orestes Christian Church and a member of the United Auto Workers Union # 663. Delmar and Shirley loved spending time in Florida. He enjoyed boating and water skiing. Delmar enjoyed working in his yard and riding on his golf cart with his grandchildren.
His family includes his wife of 58 years, Shirley J. Kelly of Alexandria; 4 children, Dena
(husband Gene) Brewer of Shelby, NC, Pat (husband Joe) Everling of Elwood, Janet Null of Cicero, and Bob (wife Sally) Kelly of Alexandria; 7 grandchildren, Kelly (husband James) Bruhn , Kim ((husband Greg) Durm, Wade (wife Nikki) Collier, Wesley Collier, Shanna Kelly, Blaize Kelly, and Blaine Kelly; 6 great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Katherine Durm, Avery Bruhn, Axl Collier, Cy Collier, Karma Collier, a great-grandchild expected in January of 2013; special niece, Connie Lester; and a beloved cat "Mr Smokey".
Delmar was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers, Larry Kelly and Lavoice (and wife Norma) Kelly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday January 7, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Courtley Granger of the Orestes Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday January 6, 2013 at the funeral home.
