Dee Ann Wisler, age 73 of Elwood passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Century Villa Healthcare in Greentown after an extended illness. She was born July 27, 1942 in Elwood, the daughter of Dwight A. and Jane A. (Frye) Wilhoit. She was a graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in the class of 1960 and later graduated from Apex Beauty School in Anderson. She worked as a hairdresser for several years. Dee Ann married Charles K. Wisler on August 7, 1971 and they shared more than 44 years of marriage together. She was a devoted farm wife and homemaker. Dee Ann was a loyal member of Harmony Christian Church in Leisure where she was a member of the Life Group for many years. She was also a member of the Leisure home economics club. Dee Ann liked to travel and had taken several memorable trips overseas with her husband. She especially enjoyed visiting her lake cottage with family on Elk Lake in Michigan. She enjoyed baking and was known for making wonderful desserts. Dee Ann will be remembered for being devoted to her family and her church family.
Dee Ann's family includes her husband of more than 44 years, Charles K. Wisler of Elwood; 2 children, Mitzi Ann (husband Brian) Underwood of Indianapolis and Trent Kent Wisler (partner Richard Legan) of Indianapolis; 2 brothers, Dwight "Bud" (wife Emily) Wilhoit of Greentown, and Stephen C. (wife Bev) Wilhoit of Crawfordsville; sister, Nancy Wilhoit of Kokomo; 2 grandchildren, Sierra Craw of Indianapolis and Sabrina Underwood and Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lucinda Cherry in 2004; and brother-in-law David Cherry 2015.
A funeral service celebrating Dee Ann's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Meyer of Harmony Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 to 8 PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the funeral home.
