Debra J. Hughes age 55 of Elwood, died Wednesday July 18, 2012 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood after an extended illness. She was born December 22, 1956 in Elwood, the daughter of Charles W. and Reva Mae (Davis) Beeman. She retired in 2009 from St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood where she worked in Housekeeping. She had formerly worked for 10 years at Dickey Nursing home in Elwood. She married Jerry L. Hughes on June 12, 1993. Debra was a member of the Elwood V.F.W Ladies Auxiliary, the Frankton American Legion, the Alexandria Eagles and the AMVets. She loved spending time with her family, camping and cooking outside.

Survivors include her father, Charles W. Beeman of Elwood; 3 children, Judy (Shaw) Rittenhouse of Elwood, Glenn Warpool of Elwood, and Steven (Anna) Warpool of Marion; 3 brothers, David Beeman of Elwood, Larry Beeman of Elwood, and Robert Beeman of Elwood; 2 sisters, Pam
(Allen) Smith of Elwood and Judy (Rick) Everson of Elwood; 6 grandchildren, Hailey Rittenhouse, Derek (Cara) Rittenhouse, Zach Rittenhouse, Chris Rittenhouse, Bradley Warpool, and Austin Warpool; 2 step-grandchildren, Jordan and Dylan Laute; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother; husband, Jerry L. Hughes who died in 1995; brother, Steve Beeman; and infant daughter, Pamela Shaw.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday July 24, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Tom King officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday July 23, 2012 at the funeral home.
