Dawne Annette Rogers, age 50 of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 24, 2019 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born November 18, 1968 in Elwood, the daughter of William "Bill" and Pamela (Mason) Morris. Dawne was a 1986 graduate of Alexandria High School, and later studied Radiology Technology at Spencerian College in Lexington, KY for two years. She was a homemaker and also worked as a property manager for her family's business, Morris Rental Properties. Dawne was married to John Rogers for several years, and he passed away as a result of an accident in January of 2005. She was previously married to Rex Remington and had a son together, Reed Remington who they adored very much. Dawne was an avid dog lover and especially enjoyed flower gardening which she was currently working on at her house. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors and fishing very much. More than anything, Dawne loved to be at home with her family.
Dawne's family includes her parents, Bill (wife Pamela) Morris of Elwood and Florida; son, Reed Remington (companion Shayla Jones) both of Elwood; fiancé, Steve Hawkins of Elwood; beloved 19-month old granddaughter, Rylie Remington of Elwood; sister, Amy Morris of Elwood; father of her son, Rex Remington of Freetown; and her special dogs, "Chloe" and "Ebby". Dawne was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph & Georgia Cole and J.T. & Eileen Morris.
A funeral service celebrating Dawne's life will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with her cousin, Larry Brooks, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Forrestville Cemetery in rural Summitville. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 pm on Thursday prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. In honor of Dawne's love of animals, memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood Animal Shelter through the funeral home. Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
