David K. Wittkamper, age 31 of Elwood, went to his Heavenly home on Monday, April 2, 2018 in Marion following a tragic airplane accident. He was born May 12, 1986 in Elwood, the son of Melvin K. and Darlene A. (Drummond) Wittkamper. David worked as a fork lift operator at Red Gold, Inc. for the past 13 years and was a 17-year fireman at the Pipe Creek Volunteer Fire Department. David was a 2004 graduate of Indiana Christian Academy in Anderson, and was currently in E.M.T. training. He was a lifelong member of the Grace Baptist Church in Anderson. Dave married his soulmate, Autumn A. Silvey on August 24, 2013, and they enjoyed an awesome marriage together. He was an avid car enthusiast, and active member of the SRT-4 Car Club. He always drove the nicest cars, and cared about his fashion. David enjoyed remote control trucks and drones, and was an avid gun collector who enjoyed target practicing. He was also a longtime collector of toy John Deere tractors, Hot Wheels, and every kind of shoe imaginable. David cared about fitness, and was a member of Anytime Fitness in Elwood where he enjoyed working out. More than anything, David loved his family; and he will be forever in their hearts.
David's family includes his wife, Autumn A. (Silvey) Wittkamper of Elwood; parents, Melvin and Darlene Wittkamper of Alexandria; sister, Megan (husband Chad) Welsh of Pendleton; brother, Devin Wittkamper of Alexandria; maternal grandparents, Bill and Ellen Drummond of Elwood; mother-in-law, Alice Silvey (companion Joe Buffington) of Frankton; father-in law, Jason (wife Jennifer) Silvey of Ingalls; aunts & uncles, Kevin (wife Kathi) Wittkamper of Elwood, Diana (husband Tom) Musick of Alexandria, Linda (husband Alan) Clark of Elwood, Paula (husband Brad) Kincaid of Elwood, Carol Wittkamper of Fishers, and Darrell (wife Kim) Wittkamper of Elwood; 3 brothers-in-law, Brant Coen and Brady Coen both of Frankton, and Chance Silvey of Ingalls; 2 sisters-in-law, Breanna Hinton and Haley Hinton both of Ingalls; and 4 nieces and nephews, Mallory, Macy, Skyler, and Jaxon.
David was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Loren and Emmagene Wittkamper; an infant sibling, Mallorie; and 2 infant children.
A funeral service celebrating David's life and the life of Kyle Hibst will be conducted together at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Elwood Jr. / Sr. High School Gymnasium in Elwood with Rev. Josh Crockett, former pastor of Grace Baptist Church and Rev. Kal Rissman of St. John Lutheran Church, officiating. Full firefighter honors will be provided by the Pipe Creek Volunteer Fire Department with assistance from numerous other local fire departments and agencies. An Honor Guard from the Marion County Sheriff's Department will also be provided. Burial for David will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 to 8 pm on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pipe Creek Volunteer Fire Department or Grace Baptist Church through the funeral home. Envelopes will be provided.
