David R. Townsend, II, age 64 of rural Fairmount, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis after an extended illness.  He was born March 3, 1961 in Hartford City, the son of David R. and Lucyanna (Reitenour) Townsend.  David was a 1979 graduate of Blackford High School.  He married Lois L. Townsend on September 13, 2008, and they shared over 16 years of marriage together.  David worked at Alro Steel Company in Muncie as a driver and hauler for several years.  He also formerly worked at Hartford Concrete Company.

David was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed nothing more than gardening, fishing, and hunting.  He and his family also enjoyed numerous camping trips together.  David enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and was friendly to everyone he met.  He will never be forgotten.

David's family includes his wife, Lois Townsend of Fairmount; two step-children, Adrianna Dewey of Kokomo and Kyle Campbell of Warsaw; 5 grandchildren, Brooklyn Selena Townsend, Griffin Devon Townsend, Tristin Noah Huffman, Mason Reece Huffman, and Meadow Reighn Catt; two great-grandchildren, Raylyn Jane Hughes and Amari Summer Hughes; Lois' siblings, Yasmeen, Denise, Randy, and Sean; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.  David was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Susan Hutcheson.

David's wish was to be cremated.  A life celebration will be held at a later date.  Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
