Mar 25, 1942 — Mar 6, 2026
David "Mac" McPhearson , age 83 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026, at his home after an extended illness. He was born March 25, 1942, in Elwood to Delbert and Naomi (Bradley) McPhearson. Mac was known throughout his life for his unwavering work ethic, athleticism, and deep devotion to his family. A 1960 graduate of Frankton High School, he excelled in sports and carried his passion for athletics well beyond his school years. On October 11, 1963, he married Carole Jane Peters, and together they built a loving family over 55 years of marriage until her passing in 2019. Mac was a dedicated member of Grace Methodist Church, now Grace Community Church. He worked tirelessly at Chrysler for 28 years in production, retiring in 2002, and was admired by colleagues for his dedication and reliability. Mac remained active throughout his life, playing basketball, baseball, softball, golf, and bowling, and his competitive spirit inspired those around him. He found great joy in teaching and coaching his grandchildren in sports, always encouraging them to do their best. Mac also enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially mushroom hunting. He will be remembered as a hardworking, athletic man who led by example, treasured his family above all else, and passed on his values through his actions and love.
