Obituary

David Hayden Garnes , age 45 of Anderson, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 31, 2020 in rural Frankton as a result of an automobile accident.  He was born July 7, 1975 in Ripley, West Virginia the son of Doyle D. Garnes and Beverly (Vincent) Martin.  David was a 1993 graduate of Elwood Community High School.  He was currently working at the Gas City Truck Stop & Maintenance Center as a semi-trailer and diesel mechanic for the past 5 years.  David was raised in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood.  He loved to work on cars and had rebuilt many of his own cars.  David was very musically talented and played the guitar in a band when he was younger.  He was an amazing artist and also a tattoo artist who could draw virtually anything with a pen.  David especially enjoyed being outdoors - fishing and camping with his family.  He also liked to play video games and would often get paid to test out new games.  David loved to learn new skills; he tore down an entire computer and rebuilt it by himself.  He was an animal lover and especially loved dogs.  David was known as being the fun dad and uncle in the family.  One thing David held very close to his heart was that he always knew his Momma loved him very much.  More than anything, David loved staying active and spending time with his family and friends.  He will be greatly missed.

David's family includes his mother, Beverly Martin of Florida; 7 children, Kayla Labar, Kristina Labar, Devon Garnes, Anna Garnes, Brianna Garnes, Isabella Garnes-Elston, and Liam Garnes; 3 sisters, Dorothy (husband Darrell) Walden of Elwood, Glenda (husband Calvin) Peterson of Florida, and Angelique Garnes of Kansas; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  David was preceded in death by his father in 2016; aunt and uncle, Patty and Steve Vincent in 2020; and special cousin, D.J. Vincent in 2020.

A family gathering and remembrance celebrating David's life will be held from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday, August 7, 2020 at the Elwood Callaway Park in Elwood.  Family and friends are asked to come out to the park and join them in a casual time of remembrance to honor David's life.  Burial will take place at a later date in Fairview Cemetery in Tipton.  Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home is honored to care for the Garnes family.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home to help offset unexpected funeral expenses.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
