Obituary

David Alvin Cain , age 65 of Alexandria and formerly of Anderson for many years, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at his home following a very brief illness.  He was born November 16, 1953 in Elwood, the son of Bernard Earl and Virginia Grace (Underwood) Cain.  David attended St. Joseph Catholic School and later was a 1971 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood.  He received specialized training in electric utilities working through apprenticeship for the City of Anderson.  He worked as a Lineman and Substation Technician for over 36 years for the Anderson Light and Power Company, and he retired from his position in 2010.  David grew up in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood and later attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria in recent years.  David was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, walking, camping, and regularly visiting State Parks.  He was also a member of the Alexandria Eagles Lodge #1771 where he enjoyed fellowship with many good friends and served as the lodge treasurer for several years.  David was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and enjoyed NASCAR with Tony Stewart as his favorite driver.  He was devoted to all his family and especially loved his daughter, Stacy.  David will be remembered as a quiet and good natured person who was friendly to everyone he met.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

David's family includes his daughter, Stacy (husband Phil) Savage of Anderson; brother, Roger Alan (wife Linda) Cain of Elwood; 4 grandchildren, Devon Smith, Erika Smith, Jessica Moore, and Austin Moore; brother-in-law, Tom Piemme of Peoria, AZ; niece, Jennifer Carmack; nephew, Joshua Cain; and 2 great nephews, Aidan and Lukas.  David was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kristy Moore in 1999; sister, Judith Piemme in 2018; and grandson, Travis Moore.

A funeral service honoring David's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Father Dan Duff officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the funeral on Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Indiana State Parks Fund through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
