Danny J. Wilhelm, age 76 – a lifelong resident of Elwood, died peacefully at his residence in Elwood on December 7, 2010 following an extended illness. He was born February 9, 1934 in Elwood, Indiana. He retired from Continental Can Corporation in Elwood in 1986 after 35 years of service in the maintenance department. He was a 1952 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood and later served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. He married Sarah "Joan" McQuinn on November 28, 1969. Danny was an outdoorsman, and an avid golfer, bowler, deer hunter, and fisherman. He always maintained a large garden, and especially enjoyed mushroom hunting. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and I.U. sports fan. He and his wife were former members of the Elwood Country Club, and he was a member of the Yule Golf Club in Alexandria. He'll be greatly missed by his family and friends who loved him dearly.

Survivors include: Wife of 41 years – Sarah "Joan" Wilhelm of Elwood; 2 Sons – Rodney J. Wilhelm and Roger W. (wife Tracie) Wilhelm; Step-Son – Robin Lee Shaw of Southport; Daughter-in-law – Adrienne Wilhelm of Elwood; 3 Grandchildren including Joslin Wilhelm and Haley Wilhelm; and a "Special" Grandson – Kristofer (wife Stephanie) Kleinbub of Fishers. He was preceded in death by: Parents – Roy and Ina (Webb) Wilhelm; and Son – Dennis W. Wilhelm.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of the East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood officiating. Burial will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 PM Friday, December 10, 2010 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
