Obituary

Danny Edwin Smith, age 64 of Sharpsville, died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born March 28, 1950 in Elwood the son of T. Edwin and Doris M. (Dean) Smith. Danny was a 1968 graduate of Frankton High School and later obtained his Journeyman Electrician's designation. He was currently an electrician at Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo wher he had worked for over 22 years, and also formerly operated his own business with his father, T. Edwin Smith & Son Electric. He married Deanna Boyer on March 29, 1980. He was a member of the Frankton Masonic Lodge #607. He was an avid gun enthusiast; hunter; lifetime member of the NRA; member of the NRA Golden Eagles; member of the Izaak Walton League in Howard County; and formerly a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Elwood. He enjoyed building muzzle-loading rifles; was an avid reader; and enjoyed gardening. More than anything, Danny was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Danny's family includes his wife of more than 34 years, Deanna Smith of Sharpsville; daughter, Devan (husband David) Christenson of Kempton; son, Douglas (wife Rachel) Smith of Bloomington; sister, Christie (husband Bill) Kinnett of Frankton; 4 grandchildren, Kyrsten, Kahlen, Kaleb and Kameryn Christenson; multiple nieces and nephews including, Kathy (husband Tim) Mouw, Mark Aaron, Michael Knauer, Kevin Knauer, and Ben Savage; several in-laws who supported the family during this time including, Jack & Helen Aaron, Deb & Jim Savage, and Dick & Rosie Boyer; and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Janet Lee Aaron and Beverly Sue Smith.

A funeral service celebrating Danny's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Tim Mouw (nephew in the family) officiating. Burial will follow in Simpson Cemetery in Howard County. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 to 8 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home and will include a Masonic Memorial Ritual at 7 PM.
