Obituary

Daniel S. Nash, age 66 of Elwood, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Riverwalk Village Healthcare in Noblesville after an extended illness. He was born July 10, 1948 in Tipton, the son of Vera Nash. Dan worked at Firestone Corporation in Noblesville for several years, and later retired as a pipefitter from the General Motors Truck Plant in Fort Wayne due to health disability. He was a 1966 graduate of Summitville High School, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Later, he married Teresa Pedro and they have shared over 28 years together. He was a very patriotic person, and member of the Elwood American Legion Post #53. Dan enjoyed fishing, hunting and grilling out. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family.

Dan's family includes his wife of over 28 years, Teresa Nash of Elwood; 3 sons, Daniel S. Nash II of Elwood, David Haynes of Elwood, and Dennis Haynes of Elwood; 2 sisters, Brenda (husband Ron) Gibson of Elwood and Roberta (husband James) Leonard of Tennessee; 4 grandchildren, Mark, Amber, Katelyn, and Kara Haynes; a great-granddaughter, Maddilyn Rushing; 3 aunts, Joyce (husband Gail) Patterson of Pennsylvania, Sharon (husband Robert) Simmons of Georgia, and Pat Tuck of Muncie; several nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, "Penny".

Dan was preceded in death by his mother; and special grandparents, Leroy and Edith Nash; 2 aunts, Pauline "Polly" Knotts and Donna (husband Lewis) Jones; and an uncle, Tom Tuck.

A funeral service celebrating Daniel's life will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Father Dan Duff of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Chaplin Hope Wade of Great Lakes Caring Hospice officiating. The service will end with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army and the Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guard. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2015 prior to the funeral service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
