Obituary

Daniel Joseph Beher , age 74 of Elwood, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Ascension-St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following complications from an accident one month before. He was born May 19, 1948 in Elwood, the son of Merrill and Ruby "Mae" (Carr) Beher. Dan graduated in 1966 from Summitville High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he specialized as an E.O.D. Bomb Technician. Dan married Linda J. (Jackson) Mroz on October 2, 2010 and they shared over 12 years of marriage together. Dan retired in 1998 from Inland Fisher Guide in Anderson where he worked as a Millwright for 30 years. He also owned and operated Daniel Beher Trucking Company north of Elwood. Dan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood.

Dan was known for being an active motorcycle enthusiast, racing flat track and motocross; and restoring vintage motorcycles for many years. He was a member of the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association and the Norton Motorcycle Owners Association. Dan also enjoyed riding his bicycle regularly, fishing, boating, water and snow skiing, camping, and traveling. He was a member of the Fairmount American Legion and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Dan's family legacy includes 4 children, Joe Beher (fiance' Shelly) of Kokomo, Bonnie (Mark) Young of Anderson, Carol Kinser (fiance' Jim) of Wilkinson, and Daniel (Jessie) Mroz of Port Charlotte, FL; 2 siblings, Thomas (Nancy) Beher of Summitville and Marilyn Grande' of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Wise.

A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at St. Joseph Church in Elwood with Father Dennis Goth officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Elwood where military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and Elwood V.F.W. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Church.
