Obituary

Dale H. Bell, Jr., age 69 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Community Hospital in Anderson following a valiant battle with lung cancer.  He was born March 10, 1948 in Elwood, the son of Dale H. and Mary Ruth (Crockett) Bell.  Dale worked in production at Delco Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson for 30 years, and retired in 1996.  He was a 1966 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School.  Dale married Anita G. Duncan on May 29, 1976, and they shared over 41 years of marriage together.  He formerly attended East Main Street Christian Church when he was younger.  Dale was a member of the United Auto Workers Union #662 in Anderson.  Dale truly enjoyed his retirement years.  He enjoyed fishing and camping, and especially enjoyed all types of auto racing.  His greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dale's family includes his wife, Anita G. Bell of Elwood; daughter, Michelle (husband Brian) Jones of Elwood; son, Mike (wife Amie) Bell of Elwood; 9 grandchildren, Briana Jones, Ty Jones, Ashlyn Jones, Jacob Jones, Jaylen Tunnell, Jackson Tunnell, Jarren Tunnell, Jacob Bell, and Jensen "Woo" Bell; 4 great-grandchildren, Addilyn, Jayden, Jacob Jr., and Nyjah; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay Downs, Sandy Fox, Edmund (wife Diane) Smock, Flora Creek, Doris (husband Larry) Whitehurst, and Boyd (wife Dawn) Duncan; his life-long friends, Willie Lawson and Buddy George both of Elwood; many longtime coffee-drinking buddies; and several nieces and nephews.  Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles "Chuck" Bell; sister, Sharon Phillips; and 2 brothers-in-law, William Downs and Edward Smock.

Cremation will take place and private family services will be held at a later date.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Madison County Humane Society through the funeral home.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
