Obituary

Dalany Marie Pereault, age 19 of Elwood, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood as a result of a car accident just south of Elwood.  She was born June 15, 1997 in Anchorage, Alaska, the daughter of Carly Beth (Shorts) Hofmann and Brian Scott Pereault.  She just started a position as a sales agent for Xfinity in Indianapolis and had formerly worked for a year at Hardees Restaurant in Elwood.  Dalany was a 2016 graduate of Elwood Community Jr./Sr. High School, and had formerly attended school in Washington where she played basketball for many years.  She enjoyed hiking outdoors in the mountains and camping with her dad in Washington State.  She especially loved cooking and had a dream of owning her own bakery someday.  Dalany was a very spiritual person who enjoyed quiet time on her rooftop sitting spot, and she was devoted to all of her family.  The overwhelming response to her passing on social media exemplifies the relationship she had with all her friends and school classmates.  She enjoyed bonfires, redneck raves, and listening to the most current music.  She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.  Dalany chose to be a tissue donor, and her family finds great comfort knowing that her donation could help numerous people as a result of this unfortunate accident.  A part of her will live on in everyone she helps.

Dalany's family includes her mother, Carly B. (Shorts) and husband Brandon Hofmann of Elwood; father, Brian Scott and wife Katie Pereault of Longview, WA; maternal grandparents, Joe and Anna McKinley of Elwood, paternal grandfather, Roy VanHollebeke of WA; 9 siblings, Kyle Pereault of Iowa, Katelynn Warner of Arizona, Kiara Pereault of Washington, C.J. Warner of Illinois, Kaleb Tressler of Oklahoma, Bladen and Landen Hofmann both of Elwood, and Kristina and Willie Harris both of Longview, WA; boyfriend, Austen Robinson of Elwood; and several other extended family members.  Dalany was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Connie VanHollebeke; maternal grandfather, Craig Shorts; and great-grandparents, Joe and Alice Nimo, and Addie McKinley.

A funeral service celebrating Dalany's life will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with her uncle, Doug Haneline, officiating.  Cremation will follow.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home to help the family with Dalany's unforeseen funeral expenses, and envelopes will be provided for this purpose.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
