Obituary

Clarice Lucille Cornwell , age 93 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 20, 2021 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Pendleton.  She was born September 12, 1928 in rural Elwood, the daughter of Roy and Ruth (Cleveland) Shawhan.  On August 17, 1945 she married James Cornwell, who preceded her in death in 1988. Their union produced a wonderful family.  Clarice was a die-hard Indianapolis Colts fan, and she left this world with a smile on her face knowing they finally beat the Patriots.  If her life had a theme song, it would have been "I DID IT MY WAY".

Clarice's family legacy includes 2 daughters, Rebecca O'Haver and Debra (husband Allan) Howell; 4 grandsons, Jeff Howell, Charles (wife Sharon) O'Haver, James Howell, and Andrew (wife Laura) O'Haver; 2 great-granddaughters; 2 great-grandsons; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends; and her beloved Main Street Wesleyan Church family.

Clarice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Cornwell; a sister; 4 brothers; son-in-law, Charlie O'Haver; and many other family members and dear friends.

Clarice's wishes were to be cremated.  Private burial will be held at a later date in the Elwood City Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in memory of Clarice.  The family asks that you gather on your own with your friends and family over a nice meal to share your memories of Clarice.  The family would like to express their appreciation to Transitions Hospice for their care and compassion.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
