Obituary

Clara Doris Thornberry, age 76 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on Thursday at Community Parkview Care Center with a broken heart following the loss of her closest brother, Bobby Thornberry, just two days before.  Clara and Bobby were inseparable all their life right until their departures into Heaven.  She was born on October 24, 1940 in Elwood, the daughter of Charles L. and Mary (Courtney) Thornberry.  Clara worked for many years at Janus Industries which she enjoyed very much.  She was a member of the South Side Wesleyan Church in Elwood.  Clara enjoyed coloring and walking, especially with her brother, Bobby.  Like Bobby, Clara's life was a special gift from God.  You never saw one without the other.

Clara's family includes 2 brothers, Charles "Chuck" Thornberry of Elwood, and George (wife Marilyn) Thornberry of Elwood; several nieces and nephews including a special niece and caretaker, Norma (husband Lance) Baker of Elwood.  Clara was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in law, Mary Thornberry in 2011; and beloved brother, Robert "Bobby" Thornberry who passed just 2 days before Clara.

A funeral service celebrating Clara's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 11, 2017 along with her brother, Bobby's life celebration, at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Pastor Ben Capshaw of Central Wesleyan Church.  Burial for both Clara and Bobby will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery in Elwood.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 to 7 PM on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army through the funeral home.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
