Christy Kay Pearson , age 66 of Tipton and a native of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 30, 2022 at her home. She was born December 3, 1955 in Elwood, the daughter of Phillip J. Miller and Shirley K. (Fite) Miller-Dellinger. Christy was a 1974 graduate of Elwood Community High School. She was raised in the Bethel Baptist Church and as a young girl, enjoyed fishing at Beaver Dam with her grandfather. Christy last worked for John Davis as the manager of the local Check Advance office in Elwood for several years, and she was also a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her husband, John D. Pearson, spent over 45 years together. In her free time, Christy enjoyed crafting, playing BINGO, and watching Indianapolis Colts games. She was a great cook and cherished time with her family as well as spoiling her only grandson, Kaleb. Later in her grandmother's life, Christy especially loved spending time with her Grandma Miller. Christy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Christy's family legacy includes her mother and step-father who raised her, Shirley and Leon Dellinger of Elwood; husband, John D. Pearson of Tipton; 2 daughters, Amy Taylor of Elwood and Jenny Pearson of Noblesville; grandson, Kaleb Taylor of Elwood; siblings, Stephanie (Steve) Hanna of Fortville, Tammy Frazier of Anderson, Joe (Patty) Miller of Elwood, Sindy (Pat) Holiday of Elwood, and Brian (Missy) Miller of Elwood; several nieces and nephews including Shaylee "Punky" Hernandez of Fortville; Josh Frazier of Anderson; and a special friend of over 50 years, Joa Griffith of Elwood. Christy was preceded in death by her father, Phillip Joe Miller; paternal grandparents, Cliff and Mary Miller; maternal grandparents, Elmer and Mildred Fite; and son-in-law, Rick Taylor.
A life celebration memorial service will take place at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor David Freelan officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday prior to the memorial service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or National Suicide Prevention through the funeral home.
