Chiquela S. "Chic" McGuire , age 89 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023 at Elwood Health and Living following a brief illness.  She was born February 13, 1934 in Alexandria, the daughter of Royal and Kathryn (Pavese) Harrison, Sr.  Chic was a 1951 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School.  She married the love of her life, William J. "Bill" McGuire on Oct. 12, 1951, and they shared over 54 years of marriage together until his passing in 2006.  Chic was a longtime, devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Elwood for over 50 years.  Recently, she started attending Main Street Wesleyan Church in Elwood with her daughter.  She loved being involved in numerous church functions including organizing the funeral dinners.  Chic was a member of Bykota Sunday School Class and the Red Hat Society.  There was nothing Chic loved more in her life than her family.  She was also passionate about traveling to all of her grandchildrens' events and nearly always had a smile on her face.  More than anything, Chic will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Chic is survived by 3 children, Rod (Barbara) McGuire, Todd (Nancy) McGuire, and Koby Saffron (Jeff Vanover) all of Elwood; son-in-law, Rick Flanagan of Elwood; 12 grandchildren, Kreg (Jenni) Flannagan, Kirk (Jamie) Flanagan, Kabe (Keah) Flannagan, Staci (John) Brack, Jason Springer, Mathew (Meagan) McGuire, Michael McGuire, Eric (El) Schwartz, Natalie McGuire, Travis McGuire, Kyra Frazee, and Keya Gross; 2 bonus granddaughters, Emma Vanover and Ava Vanover; 2 sisters-in-law, Dana Harrison of Kansas and Millie Harrison of Frankton; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Chic is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill McGuire; daughter, Kim Flanagan; 3 brothers, Royal Harrison, Jr., Gene Harrison, and Bob Harrison; and 2 great-grandchildren, Keaton Brack and Temperance Carter.

A funeral service celebrating Chic's life will take place at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Tim Becker of Main Street Wesleyan Church officiating.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am to 2 pm on Tuesday prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.  Memorial Contributions may be made to the church of the donor's choice in Chic's memory.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
