Cheri A. Felton, age 87 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Majestic Care Nursing Home in Sheridan following an extended illness.  She was born August 25, 1931 in Alexandria, the daughter of Arthur and Wista (Allen) Cummings.   She attended Alexandria High School.  Cheri married the love of her life, Herbert Leo Felton, Sr. on January 22, 1949, and they shared over 46 years of marriage together until his passing in 1995.  She was a former member of the Zion Chapel Church in Elwood.  Cheri was a devoted wife and homemaker all of her life, and also assisted her husband in his business, Felton Plumbing.  She was an avid bowler, and she and Herb bowled in numerous leagues at Wells Lanes through the years.  Cheri was known as an excellent cook, and asked everyone she encountered if they were hungry.  She enjoyed solving word searches, listening to Christian music, and loved drinking coffee as a part of her daily routine.  Cheri traveled to many states with her family and helped create lifelong memories for her children.  More than anything Cheri loved to spend time with her family.

Cheri's family includes 4 children, Tonga (Kenny) Burris of Tipton, Wilma (husband Jim) Shrock of Elwood, Arlene (husband Dave) White of Elwood, and Russell (fiance Kristina) Felton of Pendleton; 3 siblings, brother, Allen (wife Sue) Cummings of Elwood, Dorothy (husband Bill) Green of Perry, GA, and Alice (husband Joel) Harville of Anderson; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cheri was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herb Felton in 1995; 5 brothers, Richard Cummings, Russell Cummings, Arthur Cummings, James Cummings, and Everett Cummings; 3 sisters, Wilma Kelley, Tyvonnia Hoover, and Bonnie Russell; son, Herbert Felton, Jr. in 2015; and 2 grandsons, Craig Lennen, and Christopher Slayton.

A funeral service celebrating Cheri's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with her former pastor, Rev. Jack Bess officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service on Tuesday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
