Obituary

Charles E. McCorkle, 74 of Windfall, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, November 29, 2010 at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis after a brief illness. He was born January 4, 1936 in Tipton and was the son of Ed and Grace (Reed) McCorkle of Curtisville. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Barbara R. (Hinds) McCorkle whom he married on June 25, 1960.

In 1954, he graduated from Windfall High School. Following graduation he went to work for Hoosier Home Improvements of Elwood and later established his own construction business. He also enjoyed a lifetime of farming in which he did with his son, grandson, and trusted employees, Alex Trujillo and Felipe Trujillo. He was a volunteer fireman for 30 years and a member of the Windfall Lions Club.

Charlie loved gardening in the summers and fishing and spending his winters in Palm Harbor, Florida with his wife Barbara. His hobbies included attending his grandchildren's extra-curricular activities, watching NASCAR, and collegiate basketball. This past June they had the pleasure of celebrating 50 years of marriage with an Alaskan cruise and a celebration party given in their honor.

He is survived by his children – Jeff and wife Susie McCorkle of Windfall, Monica and husband Tim Stafford of Tipton, and Michele McCorkle of Noblesville. 6 Grandchildren – Jarren and wife Andrea Stafford, Jordan Stafford and fiancé Kristen Fry, Shane and wife Brittany McCorkle, Joni Stafford, Scott McCorkle, and Shalyn McCorkle. 6 Siblings – Betty Vanhorn, Phyllis and husband Frank Abplanalp, Fred and wife Barbara A. McCorkle, Katherine Ellis, Jim McCorkle, and Anne Wylie. Sister-In-Law – Carla McCorkle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother – David McCorkle, and granddaughter – Summer McCorkle.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, December 3, 2010 at The Crossroads Community Church in Kokomo where he attended. The Rev Jeff Harlow and Pastor Max Widup will officiate. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery in Windfall. Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 PM Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood and also 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
