Charles Earl "Chuck" Loser , age 81 of The Villages, Florida and formerly of Elwood, Indiana, passed on away Friday, Jan. 10, 2025 at Cornerstone Hospice Care in Florida. He was born March 24, 1943 in Elwood, the son of Earl Eugene and Ethel Lucille (Thomas) Loser. Chuck was a 1962 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School where he was an accomplished athlete. He then graduated in 1966 from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, and he received his master's degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana in 1974. Chuck married Michele F. Kennedy on Dec. 21, 1970, and they shared over 54 years of marriage together.
Chuck honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. He was a teacher at Taylor Community Schools in Kokomo for 35 years where he spent many hours coaching football, basketball, volleyball, track, cross-country, and tennis. He and Michele enjoyed living in Florida during their retirement. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wildwood, Florida as well as a member of The Villages Honor Guard. Chuck was also a member of the Retired Educators Club of The Villages, FL.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Michele F. (Kennedy) Loser of Florida; two sons, Kyle (Jessicah) Loser of Klamath Falls, Oregon and Dr. Kurt (Jennifer) Losier of Roanoke; sister, Frances Warner of Elwood; two grandchildren, Jaxon and Juliana; and many more loving family members and friends. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Russell Warner.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wildwood, Florida. Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. A graveside service and burial will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery at 11:00 am on July 12, 2025. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guard at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Elwood or the First Presbyterian Church in Wildwood, Florida. Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
