Charles Joseph "Chuckie" Abbott , age 68 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away with his mother by his side on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Elwood Health and Living following declining health.  Chuckie was born with "Marfan" Syndrome, and lived a long, happy life considering the challenges he faced from birth.  He was born June 15, 1951 in Elwood, the beloved son of Horace G. and Donna (Beeman) Abbott.  Chuckie formerly worked at the Hopewell Center in Anderson for 10 years and later worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Elwood for 10 years.  He enjoyed working and contributing as much as he was able, and he always had a good attitude about life.  Chuckie was baptized along with his mother at the New Hope Community Church in Elwood.  He was an avid fan of Elvis Presley; loved John Deere tractors; and especially liked dogs.  During local festivals, he always enjoyed riding the "Scrambler" carnival ride.  Chuckie was blessed to have a devoted mother who always looked after his needs and never let him be alone – right up until the day of his passing.  Heaven has certainly gained an angel from Elwood.

Chuckie's family includes his devoted mother, Donna Miller of Elwood; sister, Janice Mason of Elwood; 2 nieces, Shayna (husband Jonny) Carpenter of Elwood and Tanis Wynn (boyfriend Chad) of Elwood; 2 great-nieces, Heaven Young and Angel Palmer (wife Nakenzie); a great-nephew, Tyler Young; and many friends around the Elwood community.  Chuckie was preceded in death by his father, Horace G. Abbott; sister, Pearl Beeman; and grandparents, Edward and Blanche Beeman.

Services will be private due to the health restrictions on public gatherings.  A private funeral service celebrating Chuckie's life will be held on Tuesday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Rodney Ellis of the First Missionary Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Neese Cemetery in rural Frankton.  There will be no public visitation.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriners Children's Hospital through the funeral home – P.O.
