Charles W. "Chuck" Beeman, age 88 of Elwood, died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born February 27, 1926 in St. Paul, Indiana the son of Gilbert C. and Lela Elmedia (Craig) Beeman. Chuck worked as a bartender at the J-Bar and the Silver Dollar Tavern in Elwood for many years and as a parts-runner for Wyant Ford for several years. He also formerly worked at the trailer factory in Elwood for several years. Chuck proudly served in the United States Army during WWII, and survived being on a ship that was sunk in the English Channel during the war. He was a recipient of The Bronze Star for his service. He married Reva Mae Davis on December 6, 1947. He was a member of the Elwood Eagles Lodge, the American Legion, AmVets and was a lifetime member of the Elwood V.F.W. Chuck enjoyed taking trips to Florida to visit with friends. He was devoted to his family and was a loving father and grandfather.
Chuck's family includes 2 daughters, Pam (husband Allen) Smith of Elwood, Judy (husband Rick) Everson of Elwood; 3 sons, David Beeman of Elwood, Larry Beeman of Elwood, and Robert (wife Brenda) Beeman of Elwood; brother, Jim (wife Claribell) Beeman of Elwood; 12 grandchildren, Reva (husband Fred) Short, Joni (husband Shawn) Easton, Amy (husband Steve) Ruh, Chuck (wife Kim) Everson, Alan (wife Michelle) Meyer, Gail (husband Dennis) Creasy, Travis (wife Lynn) Beeman, Kyle (wife Tosha) Beeman, Judy (husband Shawn) Fox, Glenn Warpool, Steve (wife Anna) Warpool, and Kayla Powers; 18 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 52 years, Reva Mae Beeman who died on December 27, 1999; a son, Steve Beeman; daughter, Debra Hughes; 2 brothers, Jerry Joe Beeman and Sam Beeman; and 2 sisters, Sue Perkins and Virginia Michaels.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Tom King officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Military and the Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guards.
