Carolyn S. Julius

Carolyn S. Julius, age 90 of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness. Born on August 18, 1935, Carolyn was the daughter of Roy J. and Beulah B. (Perkins) Smith. She graduated from Wendell L. Willkie High School with the class of 1953 and remained proud of her Elwood roots throughout her life. Carolyn dedicated many years to servicing her community though her work. She was employed by the Elwood Federal Bank for over 20 years, Indiana and Michigan Power for over 10 years, and Commonwealth Loan Company in Elwood for many years.

Carolyn was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood and volunteered at the Bethel Baptist Church in Elwood. She was a member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority. Carolyn found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed A&W root beer, Frenchie’s pastries, tending to her flowers, and sitting on her front porch where she could watch the world go by.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Randy (Colleen) Julius of TX; daughter, Sheri (Tom) Floyd of Illinois; 3 grandchildren, Carla (Sammy) Jenkins, Jill (Kyle) Birt, and Jenna (Zack) Brewer. Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Kent Roy Smith; grandson, Eric Julius, and her great-grandson, Brighton Brit.

A graveside memorial service honoring Carolyn’s life will take place at a later date at Elwood City Cemetery. Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood is helping assist the family of Carolyn during this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Harmony House mission in Elwood, as Carolyn was a supporter of this mission and especially proud of her cousin, Doug Perkins, one of the founding members.
