Carolyn Jean Johnson , age 99 of Loveland, Ohio and a native of Elwood, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Loveland Healthcare Center after a long, well-lived life.  She was born April 3, 1927 in Elwood, the daughter of Harold and Geneva (Davenport) Chriss.  Carolyn was a 1945 graduate of Elwood High School.  She married Rollin L. Johnson on December 3, 1954 and they shared 23 years of marriage together until his passing in 1977.

Carolyn was a cafeteria manager at the Orestes Elementary School for over 30 years and retired from her position in 1999.  She loved gardening and canning fresh vegetables for many years.  Carolyn especially enjoyed caring for her flowers and property where she found solace and relaxation.  More than anything, Carolyn was devoted to her family and loved them more than anything in the world.

Carolyn's family legacy includes her daughter, Judy Johnson (husband Bill Nichols) of Loveland, OH; son, Gary Johnson; 2 beloved grandchildren, Briant (wife Min Shi) Nichols of Los Angeles, CA and Jenna (husband Sheamus) Haynes of Loveland, OH; and nephew, Craig (Ginger) Chriss of Elwood.  Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rollin Johnson; infant daughter, Tammie Johnson who passed at birth; brother, Jack (and wife Shirley) Chriss; and nephew, Kevin (and wife Mary) Chriss.

A graveside funeral service celebrating Carolyn's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at the Elwood City Cemetery with members of her family officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Queen City Hospice of Cincinnati – 4605 Duke Drive, Suite 220, Mason, OH  45040.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
