Carolyn Jo Ebert, age 77 of Frankton, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 20, 2026 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born July 24, 1949 in Peru, Indiana, the daughter of Charles W. and Barbara D. (Morgan) Smith. Carolyn was a 1967 graduate of Maconaquah High School in Bunker Hill and later attended Modeling School in South Bend, Indiana. She married the love of her life, W. Leon Ebert on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1988, and they shared over 38 years of marriage together. Carolyn formerly worked as the Credit Manager at Cashway Lumber Company in Marion for over 15 years before retirement.

Carolyn was a loyal follower of the Abundant Life Church in Kokomo and listened to messages from Pastor Charlie on various broadcasts for many years. She and Leon enjoyed living at their country home and simply loved spending time together. Carolyn found joy in gardening and working with flowers on their property. She also was known for her skills in baking, cooking, and preparing delicious meals for her family. Carolyn especially enjoyed working crossword puzzle books and hosting family dinners at their home. She will be remembered as a person with a beautiful personality and a devoted spirit who enjoyed her life to the fullest despite her illness. Carolyn will never be forgotten.

Carolyn’s family includes her husband, Leon Ebert of Frankton; 2 step-sons, Michael (Teresa) Ebert and Nathan Ebert all of Alexandria; 6 brothers, Charles (Lola) Smith of Lafayette, Roger (Patti) Smith of Noblesville, Tim Smith of Frankton, Darrell Smith of Huntington, Brian (Tya) Smith of Peru, and Gary (Tonya) Smith of Greentown; sister-in-law, Jan Smith of Marion; grandson, Wyatt (Bella) Ebert; granddaughter, Kassie Maddox; 2 step-grandchildren, Ashley (Valyn) Russell and Samantha Eley; 6 great-grandchildren, Landon Russell, Nelliel Ebert, Eevee Ebert, Mason Wagner, Magnolia Blockson, and Jeremy Blockson; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bill Smith who passed away in July of 2026.

Per Carolyn’s wishes, a graveside funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at the Elwood City Cemetery with Pastor Charlie Riley of Abundant Life Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
