Obituary

Carol Ann (Connors) John , age 74, and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood.  She was born November 9, 1944 in Elwood to the late William and Jean (Murphy) Connors.  Carol was a 1963 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood and later attended Ball State University.  Carol married the love of her life, Edward A. John, on February 17, 1968 and they shared over 51 years of marriage together.  She was a homemaker who cared for her family in addition to formerly working at Tipton Hospital and Red Gold Corporation.  Carol and Ed were also former owners of the Elwood Dairy Queen.  In recent years, Carol worked at Wal-Mart in Noblesville until retirement in 1999.  She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood and a former member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority.  In her free time, Carol enjoyed cross-stitching, knitting and travelling. Carol especially loved spending time with her grandchildren who she loved "to the moon and back."  More than anything, Carol will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She will be greatly missed.

Carol's family includes her husband, Ed John of Elwood; 3 children, Matthew (wife Marni) John of Elwood, Kent (wife Kimberly) John of Elwood, and Anne Marie (husband Alan) Gill of Westlake Village, CA; brother, J.D. (wife Linda) Connors of Elwood; 5 grandchildren, Emily John, Edward John, Grace John, Lyla Gill, and Preston Gill; 6 step-grandchildren, Ethan Morris, Jon Morris, and Katie Morris, Hayden Ferguson, Elli Ferguson, and Hannah Ferguson; a step-great-grandchild, Heidi Wisenberg; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service celebrating Carol's life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Father Dan Duff of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery in Elwood.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm prior to the service on Saturday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.   Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association through the funeral home, and envelopes will be provided.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com .
