Carl G. Teachnor, Jr ., age 71 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at I.U. Health / Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after an extended illness.  He was born September 1, 1947 in Elwood, the son of Carl G. and Suzanne (LeChevalier) Teachnor.  He attended Elwood schools.  Carl married Melissa Sue "Susie" Huffman on February 15, 1971, and they shared over 43 years of marriage together until her passing in 2014.  Carl worked in production for General Tire Corporation in Marion for over 32 years and retired when the plant closed.  After that, Carl worked in a few different machine shops in Marion and Muncie for several more years.  Carl and Susie were active members of the Cornerstone Assembly Church of God in Elwood for many years.  He enjoyed assembling small model cars and model semis as a hobby in his spare time.  He and his son also enjoyed working on lawnmowers and cars of all kinds together.  Carl enjoyed fishing; going out to eat with friends and family; and watching his favorite TV shows – "Hogan's Hero's" and "Mama's Family".  Carl was known for wearing his favorite hat and suspenders nearly all the time, and he was friendly to everyone he met.  He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father who was an excellent provider for his family.  His family is comforted knowing that Carl has been reunited with Susie in their Heavenly home.

Carl's family includes his son, Kevin Lee Teachnor of Elwood; 6 siblings, Henri (wife Diana) Teachnor of Elwood, Suzanne Miller of Montana, John Teachnor of Texas, Becky (husband Bob) Peters of Pennsylvania, Franceise "Chick" (husband Mike) Holtzclaw of Florida, and Jackie (husband Jeff) Curtz of Crawfordsville; sister-in-law, Trish Teachnor of Noblesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Carl was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Melissa Sue "Susie" Teachnor in 2014; brother, Daniel Teachnor in 2018; and brother-in-law, Jeff Miller in 2019.

A funeral service celebrating Carl's life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor David Hollis of the Cornerstone Assembly Church of God officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service on Friday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.   Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cornerstone Assembly Church of God through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
