Brett H. Mosbaugh, age 42 of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville with his family following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 28, 1972 in Anderson, the son of Wayne C. Mosbaugh and Denise Emilie (Harbit) Mosbaugh. He worked as a fork truck operator for Pioneer Seed Company in Tipton for 15 years. Brett was a 1991 graduate of Elwood Community High School and attended Anderson University. He was very active in youth sporting leagues, and was known for holding an Elwood little league record of 14 strike-outs in one game. Later, in high school, he was a member of both the football and wrestling teams and scored a 4-second pin during a Madison County wrestling meet. Brett was an avid fan of Miami University Football as well as a diehard Boston Red Sox Baseball fan. He especially enjoyed driving his Jeep and spending time with his brother, Dwayne. Brett was a loving son and father, and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Brett's family includes his parents, Wayne C. Mosbaugh of Elwood and Denise E. (Harbit) Mosbaugh of Elwood; 3 children, Brooke Emily Mosbaugh of Elwood, Raleigh Mac Mosbaugh of Indianapolis, and Roman Jason Mosbaugh of Indianapolis; brother, Dwayne L. Mosbaugh of Elwood; and uncle, Lynn D. (wife Dawn) Mosbaugh of Elwood, and aunt, Marie Mosbaugh of Sheridan; niece and nephew, Hannah Marie Mosbaugh and Ethan Wayne Mosbaugh; cousins, Jeff (wife Brandi) Mosbaugh, Heidi Puckett, Sarah Paradis, 2nd Cousins, Brantley and Blake Mosbaugh, Dylan and Brandon Woodcock, Justin and Jared Moore; and special family members, Carrie (husband Chris) Arbuckle and Ginger (Weitzel) Mosbaugh.
Brett was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard & Marian Mosbaugh; maternal grandparents, Edgar & Virginia Harbit; uncle, Dick Mosbaugh, and cousin, Laura Savage.
A memorial service celebrating Brett's life will be conducted at 8 PM on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral home in Elwood with Rich Leavell officiating. Burial will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
