Obituary

Bonnie Sue (Bennett) Corbett, age 62 of Elwood, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after an unexpected illness. She was born November 8, 1953 in Elwood, the daughter of Curtis and Evelyn R. (Ours) Bennett. Bonnie recently worked as a home health aide for 3 years for Able Hands Home Health Services and formerly worked at the Bowen Center in Columbia City. She was a 1971 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School and later received a degree in Social Services from Ivy Tech at Fort Wayne. Bonnie formerly attended Harmony Christian Church and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a passion for genealogy, and loved taking trips to West Virginia to visit family members. She enjoyed shopping, social networking on Facebook; and enjoyed collecting fashionable hats. Bonnie loved her family and friends; and she was always willing to help anyone in need.

Bonnie's family includes 3 daughters, Amy Lynn (husband Rob) Cushman of Churubusco, Carrie Leann (husband Bobby) Smith of Washington, NC, and Carisa Renee (husband Bryan) Sevrence of Fort Wayne; step-daughter, Amerika Garcia of Marion; Sister and best-friend, Linda Plake of Elwood; 7 grandchildren, Brittani (husband R.J.) Weaver, Michael Ballinger (companion Briana Herrman), Logan Hart, Justyn Hart, Meagan Hart, Cayden McCoy and Chayce McCoy; 7 step-grandchildren, Katie Cushman, Tia Garcia, Jadon Garcia, Katelynn Sevrence, Alex Sevrence, Joe Smith, and Jake Smith; great-grandson, Clayton Osbun; former husband and companion, Allan Corbett of Elwood; 2 nieces, Brandy Hoskins and Heather LaShure; nephew, Billy Hampton; and her fur-friend, "Baby".

Bonnie was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; 2 nephews, Jackie & Jacob Hampton; and step-son, David Garcia.

A funeral service celebrating Bonnie's life will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Stan Alvey officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 to 4 PM on Sunday prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Private burial will take place at a later date.
